If you’ve been in Tesco’s and down the baby section, you’ll be familiar with Rascal + Friends, the nappies usually have a cocomelon design on them and stand out against a sea of human babies and yellow plastic wrap, you may have purchased some before for your baby, and I can guarantee that you’ve also called them “Rascals” from the get-go like much of us have.
In an Instagram post, Rascal’s made a nod to this fact, pointing out that most of us already called the brand “Rascals” which contributed to the rebrand, but let me answer this one beating question: Does a rebrand affect the quality of the products?

Before we get into all of that though, I’ll tell you a little bit about Rascals if you aren’t already familiar with them. According to their website’s about us page: “A New Zealand mum of four struggled to find a nappy that was affordable and safe on her son’s eczema-prone skin. After testing hundreds of nappy designs, Rascal + Friends was born in 2016.”
Rascals is known for its excellent quality nappies, even being awarded for being the Best Nappy for Blowouts in 2023 and the best nappy for potty training also in 2023.

So does a rebrand affect the quality?
In my experience, usually yes. A rebrand normally gears you up for major changes to a product, often the quality becomes poorer. But this isn’t the case for Rascals, it’s actually one of the first times I’ve used a nappy that I think easily could wipe the floor (or the bum haha) with the next leading brand.
The first thing I noticed when I opened the package to get a nappy out for Lukas was the fact that the material they use is very soft and delicate to touch. The size (he’s currently in a 6) felt like a six, I’ve been struggling with finding nappies that feel like the size they’re advertised to be recently, sizing up normally means spillages and sizing down means it’s too tight which can cause nappy rash, Rascals is a bit like the Goldilocks fairytale, just right!

I was also given a few packs of their Premium Biodegradable Wipes, to be honest this is my first time using their wipes, I didn’t know they made any before getting the chance to try them. I’m the type of person who bulk buys baby wipes though since I’ve got 2 under 2, so trying a new set of wipes felt exciting to me, it’s nice to get to compare and consider switching brands.
My main issues that I have with baby wipes in general go as follows:
- Clumping together in the pack
- Sticking together and not easily tearing
- Not wet enough
- Awkward packaging (hard to open).
So this is a test that I always tend to run on new wipes, can it overcome each of the above obstacles?

So this is something I took into major consideration with the rascals wipes. So far, so good. The wipes are definitely not awkward to open, I didn’t spend five minutes fighting with the plastic tab to get them open and straight away I felt like they were definitely wet enough to get a nice clean wipe over dirty bums. They also easily separated when I only needed to fetch a single wipe out and most importantly: they passed the clump test. I didn’t find myself fighting with the wipes to get a sheet out only to drag half of the pack out in a big clump. This is major for me because, again, 2 under 2 and all that means I like to be stingy with the amount of wipes I use so that they last longer.
So in conclusion
Keep an eye out for Rascals and their new rebranded selection of nappies and baby wipes, I honestly think that the quality has not been affected – maybe it’s improved in fact since the last time I used them. Getting used to saying “Rascals” is also a breeze since, of course, that’s what we all referred to them as anyway. I honestly rate these nappies and think they’re competitive in quality and price and could be my new go-to.
Enjoy this review? I recently reviewed the Cosatto WOW XL as well.
