When you’re gearing up to get your baby ready to go in their own room, you start a little checklist in your mind. Is their cot ready? Have you baby proofed? Do you have the right monitor? And it’s an exciting yet scary time! That’s why Nanit are doing everything they can do give parents ease of mind at night.
So aesthetically pleasing and simple it could easily be mistaken for an Apple product, but for the £299 price point I’d hope so. The camera is gorgeous, it’s simple and not bulky, and Nanit even provide wire covers for installation if you go for the wall mounted option instead of the stands.

The Nanit Pro + Wall Mount has elevated and made bed time that bit more straight forward and easy for me and Lukas.
Ease of Use
One thing about any baby product is you need it to be easy to use, and Nanit is definitely easy. The camera itself is separate to the stands or the wall mount which means you can easily move it around different rooms during the day for naps or if you just want to keep an eye on things.
Installing on the app is also straightforward, once the camera is connected to WiFi it’s just a matter of getting the camera in the right position and booting it up any time you need to see what’s going on, but you can also pop the camera window out and keep an eye on your baby whilst you’re browsing on your phone. I tend to keep it open overnight too so if I wake up to feed Freya I can see Lukas.

The App
easy to use, straight forward and no messing is how I’d describe the Nanit app, the free features are enough if you don’t want to subscribe to view all of your baby’s sleep data which means users aren’t massively missing out and the camera quality is excellent even in night vision mode.

The app has also seen Lukas through his cot to his big boy bed, making the transition seamless since Lukas understands what the camera is for, he feels safe and often talks to us on it when he wakes up.
Compatibility
The Nanit camera is seriously smart though, it comes packed with a breathing band for 0-3 months (but we actually managed to get it to fit on Lukas who is nearly two really easily actually), the camera watches the patterns and reports back to the app on your baby’s breathing patterns and lets you know how they’re breathing and alerts you if anything goes awry.
When browsing their website I noticed pyjamas with the same pattern printed on so presumably they have the same effect as the band – how clever is that!

The Nanit camera also acts as a thermometer, if you’re concerned about the summer heat and winter cold, the camera tracks the rooms heat so you know what to dress your baby in. I have a thermometer in the room and can confirm it’s accuracy as well, if you’re looking to declutter your child’s room, Nanit can help with that because the camera also has a night light installed which you can set a timer for using the app.
Is it worth the price?
I honestly don’t think that ease of mind has a cost. I think that the £299 price point for the camera and wall mount is reasonable, especially considering how clever the camera is. Would I pay this? Yes. In fact, I’m looking into getting another one so I can watch Freya when she goes to bed too since she’s approaching six months now and can be left to sleep by herself soon.
The subscription is optional and not mandatory since you can see a certain amount of days worth of data, so I do think that depends on how much data you personally want to and need to see, but for me the camera and free data is enough at this minute.
So if you’re on the market, definitely consider the Nanit!
